“You need to have an international arrangement that facilitates this continuous exchange and flow of material that are needed for agricultural production in order to address our food security needs” says Kent Nnadozie, Secretary of the International Treaty Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. “The International Treaty is the first international agreement that formally recognizes and provides for farmers’ rights.” says Kent. He explains what the International Treaty by FAO is, how it helps in food security and its impact on smallholder farmers and plant breeders. FAO works with farmers, plant breeders, scientists, and policymakers around the world to take care of the seeds that feed us all.
